Neema Mwasha is a mental health clinician specialized in adult and child crisis intervention and counseling as well as child and adolescent behavioral interventions. She has over six years of experience working within the field of Mental Health having worked with clients from all over the world and within a large age range.
Neema developed her passion and understanding of psychology and mental health while earning her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with an emphasis on Clinical Counselling and Research in Virginia, USA. Having been born and raised in Tanzania and trained in the United States, she is fully fluent in English and Swahili. Her training and experience give her the cultural awareness to serve a diverse group of clients from different backgrounds.
In providing crisis counseling to adults and children, she uses various techniques to help clients cope with trauma or crisis. In offering behavioral interventions, she works with children and adolescents facing a broad range of emotional and behavioral issues like ADHD, anger, anxiety, depression and many others. She incorporates elements of cognitive behavioral therapy and solution focused therapy to design and implement her sessions according to the individual needs of her clients being mindful always of their psychological development and psychosocial needs.
Neema has basic training in multicultural counseling which recognizes the impact of culture shock for those coming into a new culture. She offers sessions to help clients cope and adjust in the new culture they are currently living in. In addition to this, experience growing up within the Tanzanian culture, makes her sensitive to the cultural nuances associated with receiving mental health help within the culture, and is keen to walk with her clients through that journey.
Neema is also a singer-songwriter, podcaster, and content creator with her work focusing on a wide range of mental health topics. She aims to raise awareness about psychology and mental health through all her content, especially within Tanzania.
